Subject:
What a show, what a band
I hate to think that Ryan A. may be leaving this band. The Cardinals have been on a run that is comparable to Dead standards of the 1970s. Not only do they have great songs, they are jamming as well as any band around. This show is certifiably kick-ass. "Turn the radio on, turn the radio up louder get down."

Hitting the high notes
Ryan's voice has never sounded better since he quit smoking two and half months ago. That increases a singer's range almost immediately.

Great show in Louisville
My first RA show: great venue.
The first set was "play the hits," very professional, not much stretching out until the very end ("Goodnight Rose"). The crowd went crazy for "Come Pick Me Up." Good sound; RA seemed to be fighting with one of his amps, one guitar solo was inaudible.
Casal was great, as was the rest of the band. Three Casal songs, including "Freeway." This guy should be a star in his own right.
What was up with the lights? There were no spotlights, overhead gels only. At first, I thought they'd blown a fuse or something. Now I think they kept the lights subdued on purpose.
Set 2 was filled with face-melting jams. The band was looser, and stretched out a bit. "Peaceful Valley" had great harmony vocals and dual guitar riffing, very Allman Bro's.
RA's voice was in fine form, particularly on "Please Do Not Let Me Go," where he nailed the high notes. That song is one of the tests for the strength of his voice; if he can hit the high notes, he's golden.
The centerpiece of the evening was the long, jammed out version of "Wonderwall." They've turned a spare, spooky acoustic song into a country metal showpiece, complete with a Hendrixy Strat solo from RA himself.
Band introductions led into an extended joke about the pronunciation of "Louisville."
The final song was the excellent "Magick" ("This is a song about that band, Kiss.") Then BAM, lights on, everybody home, no encore. (I think the Palace has a curfew.)
Great show, good crowd, etc. If this tour is the end, then he's ending on a strong note.
I'd pay money to be able to listen to this show again; luckily, I don't have to!
